Driver suffers life-threatening injuries after single-vehicle crash
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. (WAVY) -- A woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries Saturday night following a single-vehicle crash in Newport News, according to officials. The Newport News Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Brick Kiln Boulevard at around 9:52 p.m. A preliminary investigation revealed her vehicle struck a median, left the roadway, and came to rest near a tree. The driver was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the collision. The woman had to be extricated from her vehicle by the Newport News Fire Department. Following the extrication, the woman was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released any other information at this time. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
