Driver of stolen dump truck arrested after pursuit ends in collision on Highway 50 in Sacramento

Authorities apprehended a suspect on Wednesday evening after a police pursuit of a stolen dump truck resulted in a collision on a freeway in Sacramento. The Roseville Police Department attempted to halt the stolen dump truck near Fiddyment Road and Angus Road at approximately 4 p.m., but the driver fled, leading to a chase through Fiddyment Road to Baseline and into Sacramento County. The pursuit was taken over by the California Highway Patrol, culminating in the dump truck crashing on eastbound Highway 50 near the 51st Street overcross. The suspect, identified as 38-year-old Vinesh Pal, was then taken into custody. Two lanes of Highway 50 were blocked, and as of 5:45 p.m., there was no estimated time for the reopening of those lanes. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries in this incident.
