Driver named in fatal SH 285 crash
December 12, 2:11 PM Update: A tragic collision that occurred early Friday morning on State Highway 285 near Riviera has resulted in the loss of a 21-year-old driver's life, according to authorities. The driver, identified as Angel Brizeno of Mission, was driving a 2009 Nissan Sentra when the accident took place in rainy and foggy weather conditions. After drifting onto the eastbound shoulder, the vehicle overcorrected and entered the westbound lane, where it was struck by a 2017 Freightliner. The driver of the Freightliner was unharmed, while Brizeno was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation is ongoing by the Kingsville Highway Patrol Office, and the highway reopened at 12:34 PM after being closed for several hours.
