Driver killed, passenger injured in crash on I-4 in Ybor City
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — The Florida Highway Patrol said one person was killed and another suffered minor injuries after a crash on I-4 in Ybor City. The single-vehicle crash occurred in the westbound lanes near mile marker 1 at around 2:30 a.m. on Monday. The driver of a Dodge Durango, a 28-year-old Tampa man, reportedly lost control of his vehicle as it went flying into the grassy median, overturning multiple times, FHP said. Authorities said the man was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the car during the crash, ultimately succumbing to his injuries after being transported to a nearby hospital. His passenger, a 26-year-old Tampa woman, who was wearing a seatbelt, suffered minor injuries.
