Driver injured, passenger killed in overnight crash

CLEVELAND (WJW) -- Cleveland police are investigating a crash early Saturday morning that left a 42-year-old woman dead. The crash happened around 2 a.m. on March 28 at Lee Road and Miles Road, according to police. Their preliminary investigation indicated that the driver, identified only as a 22-year-old woman, was going south on Lee Road "at a speed believed to be above the posted limit." Police said she tried to turn east onto Miles Road when she lost control and hit a curb, causing the vehicle to roll multiple times. The driver was hospitalized with severe injuries. The passenger, a 42-year-old woman, was ejected from the vehicle. She died at the hospital, according to police. Police do not believe either occupant was wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the crash, however that has not been confirmed yet, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
