Driver indicted after stolen vehicle crashes into Mass. building
The driver of a stolen vehicle that slammed into a Cambridge, Massachusetts, building in January, injuring two people, has been indicted in the crash and will appear in court Tuesday. On Jan. 19, Cambridge police said officers attempted to stop a vehicle near the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street, but the driver took off down Albany Street."Officers did not pursue it out of safety concerns and only learned of the crash from later 911 calls," Sgt. Bob Reardon Jr. said in a statement.The vehicle ultimately crashed into a building that housed a biotech company near the intersection of Albany, Waverly and Erie streets. David Powell will be arraigned Tuesday on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, larceny of a motor vehicle, reckless operation of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of property damage and failure to stop for police.
