Driver in fatal collision with Tulsa fire truck files lawsuit against city, fire department
Keiosha Rucker has filed a lawsuit against the City of Tulsa and the Tulsa Fire Department following her involvement in a collision with a firetruck in February 2024. Tragically, the crash resulted in the loss of three children and a 23-year-old woman who were passengers in Rucker's 2019 Hyundai Accent. Additionally, a 26-year-old woman, who was pregnant at the time, suffered a miscarriage as a result of the incident. The collision occurred near 41st and Harvard while the firetruck was responding to an apartment fire with sirens activated. Allegations have been made regarding Rucker failing to yield in front of the firetruck and having substances in her system and vehicle. A claim has been made that firefighter Joseph Stern was driving at an unsafe speed and entered the oncoming traffic lane. Rucker, who suffered partial paralysis from the crash, is seeking $75,000 in compensation for negligence and wrongful death. Rucker is awaiting sentencing on December 16 after pleading no contest to six charges related to the crash. Initially pleading not guilty, she opted for a no contest plea on the day a jury trial was scheduled. One of the charges against her was dropped as part of an agreement with the state.
