Driver identified in deadly truck crash in Linn, DPS confirms
A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon in Hidalgo County where a tractor-trailer driver named Alberto Montoya, 74, from Brownsville lost his life in a fiery crash. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the accident that took place on FM 186, east of U.S. 281. The driver was heading eastbound when the trailer went off the road, hitting a light pole and a tree. Unfortunately, the vehicle caught fire, making the driver unidentifiable due to severe burns. Texas Department of Transportation is present to manage traffic as FM 186 is shut down from US 281 to west of Brushline Road. The closure is expected to last a few more hours, until 10 p.m. TxDOT urges drivers to reduce speed in the area for safety.
