Driver falls asleep at the wheel before Hillsboro crash

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Two cars collided Tuesday morning after a driver fell asleep at the wheel, officials said. According to the Hillsboro Police Department, officers responded to NE Evergreen Parkway and Century Boulevard around 7:30 a.m. after two cars had crashed. Police said that they learned that one driver had fallen asleep and drifted out of their lane, where they crashed into a speed radar trailer and spun into oncoming traffic, which led to the collision with another car. There were no major injuries, but police said that one driver was taken to a hospital as a precaution. Police reminded drivers that fatigue can be just as dangerous as impairment, and drowsy drivers should pull over and rest to prevent serious crashes.
