Driver dies in Route 1 head-on crash with dump truck; lanes reopened after closures
SACO, Maine (WGME) -- One person is dead after a crash on Route 1 in Saco. Saco police say a car crossed the center line and collided head-on with a dump truck. The crash happened around 3 Thursday afternoon near Portland Road and Waterfall Drive, just north of the old Saco Drive-In. Police say the car was traveling south when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided with that truck. The car's driver was pronounced dead at the scene. Parts of Route 1 were closed following this crash and another, but all lanes are now back open.
