Driver dies after being thrown from vehicle in Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel accident
A driver tragically passed away early Monday morning following a collision involving two vehicles inside the Hampton Roads Bridge Tunnel on Interstate 64 eastbound. According to Virginia State Police, the deadly incident took place around 2:38 a.m. on Jan. 5 when a grey Nissan Altima experienced a tire blowout and stalled inside the tunnel. Subsequently, a red Acura MDX collided with the immobilized Altima. The driver of the Altima was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, while the Acura driver sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital. The condition of the Acura driver has not yet been disclosed, and authorities have refrained from revealing the identity of the deceased driver until next of kin notification is completed.
