Driver arrested for DUI manslaughter following deadly collision in Lee County
A man in Lee County was taken into custody on charges of DUI manslaughter following a tragic collision on Pennsylvania Avenue and Rio Vista Circle. Florida Highway Patrol troopers reported that on December 20, Ever Alfredo Matias Burgos, 25, lost control of his vehicle near a curve on Pennsylvania Avenue. The car struck two pedestrians, a 39-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman from Bonita Springs, who were walking their dog on the sidewalk. The male pedestrian and the dog died at the scene, while the female pedestrian sustained critical injuries and was taken to the hospital. Burgos and his passenger were also hospitalized with serious injuries. Burgos was arrested on December 21 and is facing charges of two counts of DUI and DUI manslaughter.
