Driver airlifted after I-95 crash in Colleton County
Authorities responded Wednesday evening to a two-vehicle collision in an I-95 construction zone in Colleton County, resulting in serious injuries and prolonged road closure. Fire-rescue and highway patrol were dispatched to the scene, where a Dodge Durango collided with a stopped Cadillac Escalade towing a boat. Both vehicles sustained heavy damage and came to rest blocking all southbound lanes, officials said. Firefighter paramedics arrived within minutes and began treating the driver of the Durango, who sustained multiple traumatic injuries, prompting officials to airlift the driver to the trauma center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston.
