Driver accused of causing fatal crash involving school van in Westmoreland County.

A tragic incident occurred in Westmoreland County last year when a tractor-trailer driver was charged with causing a fatal accident by running a red light. The driver, identified as 23-year-old Isaac Stemple, was accused of running a red light at the intersection of Route 22 and Route 819 in Salem Township, resulting in the death of 60-year-old Rene Davis, who was driving a school van for the Greensburg Salem School District. Another vehicle driven by a 17-year-old was also involved in the accident, with the teenager being hospitalized. Despite claiming that the sun obstructed his vision, a dash cam video showed that the traffic light was clearly red at the time of the incident. Stemple faces charges of homicide by vehicle, reckless endangerment, and other offenses. He has been released on bail and is expected to appear in court for a preliminary hearing in March.
