DPS: 81-year-old Odessa woman killed in crash involving semi-truck
ECTOR COUNTY, Texas (KMID/KPEJ)- An 81-year-old Odessa woman died following a two-vehicle crash Friday morning at the intersection of FM 866 and SH 302 in Ector County, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. DPS reported the crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on May 15. Preliminary information showed a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Rosa Emma Mendoza Robles, 81, of Odessa, was traveling northbound on FM 866, and that a 2008 Kenworth W9 with a trailer was traveling westbound on SH 302. According to DPS, the Silverado failed to yield the right of way at the crossover of SH 302 and FM 866, and as a result, the Kenworth struck the passenger side of the Silverado. Robles was transported to Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, where she was later pronounced dead by medical personnel. The driver of the Kenworth, identified as 57-year-old Francisco Rodriguez Manriquez of Odessa, was not injured in the crash. This crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.
