Double Fatal Crash Victims Identified After Crash During Blizzard In Eastern PA
Two Lower Nazareth Township men have been identified as the victims of a deadly crash that shut down Nazareth Pike during a winter storm Sunday evening, Feb. 22. Edward A. Segreaves, 59, was pronounced dead at the scene after the two-vehicle crash on Route 191 near Gradwohl Switch Road, Northampton County Coroner Zachary R. Lysek said in a release issued Monday, Feb. 23. Segreaves was the operator and sole occupant of a pickup truck involved in the collision, according to the coroner. Lucas A. Snyder, 22, was driving a sedan and was its sole occupant, Lysek said. He was extricated from the vehicle and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, Anderson Campus, where he was pronounced deceased. Both men died from multiple blunt force injuries, and their manner of death was ruled accidental, the coroner said. The crash was reported just after 5 p.m., and Nazareth Pike was closed between Daniels Road and Jandy Boulevard for an extended period following the collision, according to county dispatch. The crash happened as snow from a major winter storm began picking up across the Lehigh Valley. It is not known if the weather was a factor. The investigation is ongoing by the Colonial Regional Police Department. Snyder attended Nazareth Area High School, according to his Facebook profile. Friends called him an "amazing guy" and a "great kid" who will be greatly missed. Segreaves attended Warren Hills High School, according to his Facebook profile. A GoFundMe titled “Honoring Ed Segreaves’ Memory” has been launched by Christopher Kutzler of Easton to help cover funeral, cremation, and estate legal costs. As of Monday, the fundraiser had raised more than $11,000 toward a $13,000 goal through 113 donations. “Last night, our world changed forever when our father, Ed Segreaves, passed away after a tragic car accident,” the organizer wrote on the page. “The shock and pain of losing him so suddenly has left our family heartbroken and searching for ways to honor his memory.” The fundraiser states that the money will help cover funeral services and cremation expenses, as well as legal costs for his children — Christopher, Elizabeth, Mackenzie, and Autumn — as they work to resolve his estate. Additional details about the men's lives and funerals were not immediately available. Their loved ones are invited to share details with Daily Voice by emailing [email protected].
