Deputies: E-bike rider killed in Montcalm County crash after failing to yield
HOME TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A man died after an electric bicycle crash near Edmore Wednesday afternoon, deputies say. It happened around 1:25 p.m. on Neff Road near M-46 in Home Township. According to the Montcalm County Sheriff's Office, a 67-year-old man from Edmore was riding an e-bike. Deputies said he exited a private driveway and turned south onto the road, failing to yield to an SUV that was going north. The SUV hit the e-bike, according to the sheriff's office. The Edmore man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and later pronounced dead. His name was not immediately released. Deputies said the driver of the SUV, a 66-year-old Blanchard woman, was not hurt. They don't believe speed played a role in the crash. Investigators added that the e-bike rider was not wearing a helmet. Neff Road was closed for hours as deputies investigated.
