Delaware Co.: Man pronounced dead after reported riding mower accident
DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. -- A man was pronounced dead after he was found pinned beneath a riding mower in a Delaware County creek. According to the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 14300 block of East Stanley Road on a report of a water rescue at around 8:04 p.m. on Thursday. When deputies and first responders arrived, a man was found in a creek, pinned beneath a riding lawn mower. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. A news release from the office stated a preliminary investigation indicated that the man was driving the mower "near a steep embankment when it slid over the edge, causing both the mower and operator to enter the water." "There are no indications of foul play, and no additional public safety concerns have been identified." The release stated that the Delaware County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by the Delaware County Coroner's Office and other local emergency responders.
