Delaware Co.: 1 dead after motorcycle crash
DELAWARE COUNTY, Ind. — One person was pronounced dead following a motorcycle crash in Delaware County on Tuesday evening. According to a news release from the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a crash just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday on State Road 28 near a truck stop. A preliminary investigation indicated that a semi-tractor-trailer was turning into the truck stop from State Road 28 eastbound when a motorcycle was traveling in the opposite direction, approaching the truck stop's center entrance. When the semi was turning into the stop, the release said it entered the motorcycle's path, resulting in a collision. The driver of the motorcycle, identified as a Selma resident, was pronounced dead following the crash. The semi driver, identified as a North Carolina resident, remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators, the release said. A third vehicle reported possible contact with debris in the roadway following the crash. However, no injuries were reported from that third vehicle. The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office's crash reconstruction team. The name of the individual who was pronounced dead is being withheld pending notification of the family.
