DeKalb police officer involved in crash on Memorial Drive
A DeKalb County police officer was involved in a multi-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning, according to the department.Officers responded to the collision around 6:11 a.m. in the 5400 block of Memorial Drive, near Ray Road. Officials stated the chain reaction began when a driver struck the rear of a police cruiser, propelling it over the median and into oncoming traffic lanes. The officer's vehicle was then struck by another car, which was subsequently hit by a tow truck.The officer and another individual were transported to a local hospital with injuries described as minor.FOX 5 crews at the scene observed multiple vehicles with significant damage, including one positioned on the median and another being cleared by a tow truck. While a police cruiser remained in the roadway, its specific damage was not immediately visible. Officials have not yet determined if any citations or charges will be filed in connection with the crash.
