Debris from truck crashes through car windshield on I-70 in Washington County, dispatchers say

Pennsylvania State Police are searching for a driver of a truck after a piece of metal smashed through a van windshield and injured two people.The westbound lanes of Interstate 70 were backed up off the Jessop Exit in Canton Township after something fell off the back of a trailer and crashed through van behind it, dispatchers tell Pittsburgh's Action News 4.According to the driver of the van, a large, sharp piece of metal flew off a trailer the truck was towing. The metal smashed through the van's windshield and hit the second-row middle passenger in the head.Troopers say the truck did not stop. Anyone with information on the crash or who sees a vehicle that could have been involved is asked to contact Pennsylvania State Police Washington at 724-223-5200.Those who witnessed the crash say the flatbed trailer may have had flags attached to it.Download the WTAE app to stay connected with breaking news.
