Death of Norwalk man found in river ruled an accident, medical examiner says
NORWALK — The death of a 69-year-old man found in the Norwalk River earlier this year has been ruled an accident, according to the state Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Michael Tyler, who lived on his boat in the area of Water Street, was discovered in the water at the boating docks on the morning of March 4, said Norwalk police Lt. Tom Podgorski. Tyler was pronounced dead at the scene. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Tyler’s cause of death was “Drowning Complicating Hypothermia” and ruled it an accident. “There was nothing obtained in the investigation in addition to the final OCME report that would indicate that Tyler’s death was anything other than accidental," Norwalk police Lt. Ramon Tejada said. Tejada said the case has been closed and there will be no further investigation.
