Deadly Muskego crash, Milwaukee man charged with OWI
One person was killed in a crash at the intersection of Moorland and Janesville Road in Muskego on June 30.Joel Liebel has been charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle and operating while intoxicated causing injury, along with two counts of second-degree recklessly endangering safety.According to a criminal complaint, Liebel told the responding officer he was headed to Wendy's. The officer noted he was difficult to understand and slurred his speech. He also noticed a strong odor of alcoholic beverages.Liebel blew 0.093 on the breathalyzer test, 0.013 over the legal limit, the complaint stated.One eyewitness at the scene described Liebel’s van driving through a red light and striking the side of the other car.Liebel was placed under arrest for operating while intoxicated and transported to the hospital for medical treatment.Police have not identified the victim.
