Deadly motorcycle crash on Rt. 219 in Cambria County

CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) — One man has died in a motorcycle crash on Route 219 near the Watertown Curve in Adams Township on Saturday night. The crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on the southbound side of Route 219, according to Cambria County Coroner Jeff Lees. Matthew M. Smith, 42, of Geistown, was identified as the driver of the 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Smith was reportedly not wearing a helmet when he lost control, went off the road, and hit an embankment. Smith was transported to Conemaugh Memorial, where he was pronounced dead around 8:20 p.m. Coroner Lees has listed his death as accidental, citing speed as a factor in this crash. Toxicology results are still pending, Lees added.  St Michael, Forest Hills, East Hills and Adams Township Police assisted at the crash.
