Deadly head-on crash closes Boulder Canyon Drive
DENVER (KDVR) — One person is dead after a head-on crash on Colorado Highway 119 in Boulder Canyon, state officials said Thursday morning. The highway is closed for several miles between Magnolia Drive and Fourmile Canyon Drive Thursday, and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office said the closure could last a while and that drivers should use alternate routes. The Colorado State Patrol said the crash happened at about 9:20 a.m. on Colorado 119 at Chapman Drive involving a 2020 Lexus RX350 and a 1997 Subaru Legacy. The Subaru driver, a 76-year-old, died at the scene, and the Lexus driver, an 83-year-old, was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, CSP said. CSP did not identify the drivers or say their genders. CSP said the cause of the crash is still under investigation.
