Deadly crash in Northern California as pickup truck collides head-on with bus
California Highway Patrol is currently looking into a tragic accident that claimed the lives of six individuals in the Northern Sacramento Valley. The incident occurred when a Tehama County transit bus (TRAX) was hit head-on by a pickup truck on Highway 99W close to Gyle Road near Corning. The pickup truck had crossed into oncoming traffic, resulting in a collision that caused the bus to catch fire. Unfortunately, four passengers from the bus, in addition to the driver, lost their lives at the scene, as did the driver of the pickup truck. There were no other individuals in the pickup truck. The authorities are still investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash and have not determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role. In response to the incident, TRAX has halted all transit services for the time being. Our deepest sympathies go out to those affected by this tragic event. Details about the victims have not yet been disclosed. The location of the accident is approximately 40 minutes south of Redding and two hours north of Sacramento.
