Deadly crash closes lanes on southbound I-5 near San Diego-Orange County line

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (FOX 5/KUSI) — Several lanes of the southbound I-5 were closed on Wednesday due to a deadly crash, according to the California Highway Patrol. CHP Oceanside posted on social media around 6:53 p.m. that the inside three lanes of the highway near the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant were closed due to a deadly accident. The slow lane remained open, but delays were expected. The CHP did not describe the details of the crash, but the agency's logs indicate that a pedestrian may have been involved. A person driving northbound told FOX 5/KUSI that they saw a man run across the northbound lanes and onto the southbound side of the I-5. The freeway has since reopened.
