Dallas County Sheriff’s report highlights festival, fatal crash, enforcement efforts

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office reported a week that included community events, a fatal crash, increased enforcement efforts and multiple arrests, according to an update from Major Brady Harmon. Deputies were on hand for the Fordyce on the Cottonbelt Festival, which officials said drew strong community participation and highlighted the area’s local businesses and families. The week also included a fatal multi-vehicle accident that left one person dead and another seriously injured. Authorities said multiple agencies responded to the scene, including law enforcement, firefighters and EMS personnel. In response to complaints about speeding log trucks, the sheriff’s office said deputies have increased patrols and traffic enforcement across the county. Officials said citations will be issued to drivers found in violation in an effort to improve roadway safety. The sheriff’s office also assisted the Fordyce Police Department with a stabbing investigation Monday night. Authorities said the case remains active. On the prevention side, the department participated in the National Drug Take Back event, collecting more than 70 pounds of unused or expired prescription medications. The drugs will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration for proper disposal. Officials also reminded residents that a drug drop box is available 24 hours a day at the sheriff’s
