CSP: Deadly accident on I-25 near Walsenburg shuts down southbound lanes
A fatal multi-vehicle crash on I-25, south of Walsenburg, resulted in one person's death and multiple injuries on Friday morning, Jan. 2. The Colorado State Patrol reported that the accident occurred at around 7:30 a.m. near Exit 42, approximately seven miles south of Walsenburg. The collision involved at least five vehicles, including a semi-truck. One individual has passed away, and three others have been taken to the hospital. Southbound traffic on I-25 has been redirected while the northbound lanes remain unaffected. As of just before 10:30 a.m. on Friday, the Colorado Department of Transportation noted a 20-minute delay and a detour at Exit 42 for southbound drivers.
