Critical injuries reported in crash on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Greensboro, Guilford EMS says

GREENSBORO, N.C. (WGHP) — One person has died following a crash early Saturday morning, according to the Greensboro Police Department. At around 2:30 a.m., the Greensboro Police Department responded to a crash with injuries near the intersection of South Benbow Road and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. A preliminary investigation indicates that Jefferson Lumby Zeledon, 29, of Greensboro, was driving an Acura RSX when he committed a hit-and-run in downtown Greensboro and then began to drive recklessly and at a high rate of speed down South Benbow Road. As he approached the T-intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, he ran off-road straight and struck a parked Chevy Cobalt. His vehicle flipped and came to rest in the woods, according to police. Zeledon was pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers in the vehicle were taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Speed was determined to be a factor in this crash, and impairment is suspected. The crash remains under investigation. There is no further information at this time.
