Critical car accident involving bicyclist on Kapiolani Boulevard: HPD, EMS
HONOLULU (KHON2) -- On March 10, Honolulu Police Department and Honolulu Emergency Medical Services responded around 11:45 a.m. to a car accident involving a bicyclist in the McCully area. Police said the 86-year-old bicyclist "traveled into the path" of a 36-year-old driver, who critically hit the man after he rode from the sidewalk into the westbound lanes on Kapiolani Boulevard. EMS transported the bicyclist to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He suffered "life-threatening injuries," EMS reported. The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
