Crash shuts down southbound I-15 near Mesquite
A crash has shut down southbound Interstate 15 near Mesquite Thursday morning. Nevada State Police say the crash happened near mile marker 107, about 53 miles northeast of the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Trooper Shawn Haggstrom with Highway Patrol said a semi-tractor trailer crossed through the center median and crashed head-on into another semi. One driver was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, he said. Southbound traffic is being turned around back toward Mesquite. The interstate could be closed for several hours in the morning. The only alternative route for reaching Las Vegas is to head west on Utah Route 56/Nevada Route 319 and take U.S. 93 south from Panaca.
