Crash on Interstate 55 in south St. Louis kills 33-year-old
ST. LOUIS -- A 33-year-old man died in a car crash on Wednesday in the Marine Villa neighborhood. The incident occurred around 7:45 a.m. on northbound Interstate 55 at the Potomac Street exit. It is believed the driver lost control of his vehicle while attempting to exit the interstate. Investigators say the Malibu was traveling northbound on Interstate 55. The vehicle then went from lane one across all lanes of traffic before traveling up the grass embankment. Officers responded to a call for an accident with injuries and located a Chevrolet Malibu that had crashed. Emergency Medical Services pronounced the driver dead at the scene. Accident Reconstruction is investigating the crash, which involved the vehicle striking a concrete base and catching fire. Police say that the investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
