Crash on Alabama 158 in Mobile County kills two people
UPDATE 2/28/26 8:00 PM: The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating a deadly crash on Alabama 158 early Saturday morning that killed two people. State troopers say the accident happened on Alabama 158 near Wilmer Georgetown Road, six miles west of Semmes, around 1:36 AM on Saturday. They say 57-year-old Daphne Peters of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, was driving when her SUV collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. Peters and passenger 58-year-old Dexter Magee of Collins, Mississippi, were not wearing their seatbelts and were both ejected from the vehicle. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after the crash, another tractor-trailer struck the first cargo truck. Both truck drivers were taken to University Hospital for treatment. We don’t know how badly they were hurt. The cause of the crash is under investigation. ORIGINAL STORY: MOBILE COUNTY, Ala (WKRG) – The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is investigating a multiple vehicle crash on Alabama 158 that has left at least one person dead, according to ALEA. State troopers say a multi-vehicle crash happened on Alabama 158 near Wilmer Georgetown Road in Wilmer around 1:41 AM. The road remained closed for more than seven hours after the crash while crews recovered the vehicles. WKRG reached out to an ALEA spokesperson for more information on the incident. They have confirmed that at least one person was killed in the crash. They didn’t say how the crash happened or how many vehicles were involved. Tropers have closed off traffic to the scene as they clean up and investigate the crash. More information will be released when it becomes available.
