Crash kills 1, ignites vegetation fire in Escondido
ESCONDIDO, Calif. (KGTV) — A fatal crash on Shirley Road in Escondido caused a vegetation fire Saturday, according to Cal Fire. Cal Fire says the fire started just after 1 p.m. when a car crashed on Shirley Road near the 32100 Block of Shirley Road, Deer Springs. The car caught on fire, causing a 100x100 feet brush fire near the crash. One person died as a result of the crash, the passenger survived and no medical aid was necessary for the passenger. Forward progress on the fire has stopped.
