Crash in Waikiki sends driver and pedestrian to hospital
Emergency Medical Services in Honolulu responded to a severe collision in Waikiki on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 27. The incident occurred at approximately 4:18 p.m. on Kalakaua Avenue and involved one vehicle and several pedestrians. A video captured at the scene depicted damage to a hotel structure as workers cleared the wreckage. The 68-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. He was initially treated at the scene before being taken to a trauma center in serious condition. A 60-year-old male pedestrian was also taken to a trauma center in serious condition with multiple injuries. Two other pedestrians, a 27-year-old woman and a 52-year-old woman, were found to be stable and declined EMS transportation. Police are currently investigating the cause of the collision, with no further details provided as of now.
