Crash causes traffic delays on Route 22 in NJ
NORTH PLAINFIELD, N.J. (PIX11) — Two people were critically injured following a crash that shut down the westbound lanes of Route 22 early Monday, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office. Authorities said a vehicle traveling south on Somerset Street toward Route 22 West struck a concrete barrier around 3:15 a.m. The driver, a Franklin Township woman, and her passenger, a North Plainfield man, both suffered serious injuries and were taken to local trauma centers. Both are listed in critical condition, according to officials. The crash closed all westbound lanes near Somerset Avenue and Watchung Avenue, causing traffic delays for most of Monday morning. One of three eastbound lanes was also shut down as traffic was diverted onto local roads. PIX11 Air video showed the vehicle in the center median. No additional details were immediately available.
