CPD: Teen flown to hospital following Columbus crash
COLUMBUS, Ind. -- A teen was flown to an Indianapolis hospital following a crash on Wednesday morning, an incident that led to a road closure in Columbus. According to a news release from the Columbus Police Department, officers and first responders were called to the 1600 block of Indianapolis Road at around 11:23 a.m. on Wednesday on a call of a personal injury accident. When officials arrived, they found two vehicles on their sides, including a 1983 Kenworth truck and a 2003 Lexus SUV. The driver of the Lexus, identified as a 19-year-old, was flown from the scene to an Indianapolis hospital after reports of a possible head injury. The driver of the Kenworth, a 44-year-old, reportedly sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The department's accident reconstruction team was called to the scene. The release stated that the details surrounding the circumstances of the crash are under investigation. The release said that Indianapolis Road is expected to be closed for several hours as the investigation continues.
