Couple killed, children hospitalized after head-on collision in southeast Indiana

DEARBORN COUNTY, Ind. (WANE) -- A married couple was killed, and their two small children were sent to a hospital after a head-on collision on a rural highway. AT around 6 p.m. Friday evening, a man driving a pick-up truck was traveling westbound on State Road 350 in Dearborn County, when, for an unknown reason, he crossed the center line and into the opposite lane. At the same time, an SUV driven by 33-year-old Jordan Walters was heading the other direction. The pick-up truck crashed head-on into Walters's vehicle, which carried his wife, 33-year-old Sierra Walters, and their two young children as passengers. When police and medics arrived at the scene, they found the pick-up truck spun around in the middle of the road, and the Walters' vehicle off the roadway and resting in an embankment. Both Jordan and Sierra were pronounced dead at the scene. The couple's two young children were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. It is not known what condition they are in. The pick-up driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to a Cincinnati-area hospital. It is unclear at this time if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash. The crash remains under investigation.
