Coroner IDs victim killed in York County crash on road residents call dangerous

The York County coroner has identified a person who died in a head-on crash on Friday, according to the coroner's office. Police said two vehicles collided head-on on Cape Horn Road/Route 24 near the intersection of Woodridge Road in York Township around 5:30 a.m. The coroner identified the victim as Nicholar Greci of Red Lion. An autopsy was scheduled for Monday. Police said two people were also transported to the hospital. Residents push for speed reduction Neighbor Randal Hangst, who said he has lived in the area for nearly 50 years, said crashes on that section of Cape Horn Road are not unusual.“My wife and I decided last year we’ve had enough. And we went to our, Wendy Fink, representative and asked her, what we need to do to try and get the speed limit reduced in front of our house,” Hangst said. The speed limit on Cape Horn Road is 45 mph before dropping to 25 mph farther down the road. Hangst said the higher limit does not fit the area.“I don’t see any reason for it to be 45 this close to the town,” he said. “With all the businesses, the post office right here, therapy right across the street, the old age homes right here, I mean, it’s just no reason for it to be 45 miles an hour.” Hangst said he has become used to the traffic dangers over the years, but visitors are often alarmed by the road conditions.“Now I’m used to it because I’ve been here for it,” he said. “I have friends or somebody visiting me there. They’re nervous wrecks, you know, trying to back out.”The crash remains under investigation. Stay with WGAL for updates as we learn more. See news happening?
