Contractor airlifted after construction accident on Attica school campus

Attica, N.Y. — A contractor was seriously hurt while working on the capitol improvement project for the Attica Central School District, according to superintendent Dr. Kiel Illg. The employee was working on the maintenance building being constructed on the district's campus early Monday morning when the roof trusses tipped over and fell, Illg said. The worker was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital in stable condition and has non-life-threatening injuries. No other injuries were reported. Illg said a hold-in-place was held on the campus during the incident out of precaution. Classes and school activities were not impacted. It's unclear if the capitol project's timeline will be impacted, according to Illg.
