Construction zone accident shuts down part of I-72 near Monticello
MONTICELLO, Ill. (WCIA) -- Part of I-72 is closed near Monticello after a vehicle crashed in a construction zone. Just before 7 p.m., Illinois State Police estimated that Interstate 72 West will be closed near exit 166 for two hours. State Police said a tractor trailer drove through the one lane construction zone and crashed. Illinois Department of Transportation crews and Troopers with the Illinois State Police are diverting traffic onto IL-105 at exit 166. At this time, drivers are asked to find an alternate route. WCIA reached out to State Police for more information but did not immediately hear back. This is a developing story.
