Community Mourns as Investigation Continues After Fatal Jackson Crash
One person tragically lost their life Thursday afternoon in a crash on I-20 East near Ellis Avenue in Jackson.Jackson police responded around 4 p.m. to a single-vehicle accident involving a blue 2003 Chevy Avalanche. According to investigators, the vehicle was traveling eastbound when it left the roadway and flipped multiple times before coming to a stop. Witnesses confirmed seeing the vehicle overturn several times. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Clarence Lewis, also known as Allen, was transported to a local hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries. The Lewis family has released a statement expressing their gratitude: “The Lewis family sends sincere gratitude for all of the love and support shown throughout the city during their time of bereavement.”
