Columbia man dead in Boone County car crash, two others injured
An elderly Columbia man died after being involved in a car crash in Boone County on Thursday. The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) reported the crash happened at 3:05 p.m. on U.S. 63, a mile south of Calvert Hill. According to the crash report, a 1996 Saturn SL2 entered the highway from a private drive and crossed the path of a 2011 Toyota Prius. The Toyota struck the driver side of the Saturn. The driver of the Saturn, a 78-year-old Columbia man, was pronounced deceased at a hospital. The Toyota driver, a 78-year-old Kirksville woman, sustained moderate injuries while her passenger, a 75-year-old Kirksville man, sustained minor injuries. MSHP reported the Kirksville residents were wearing their seatbelts, but it is unknown if the Columbia man was wearing his.
