Collision between semi truck and fire truck on Metro Pkwy in south Fort Myers

Emergency crews in south Fort Myers are currently on the scene of three separate crashes that occurred at the intersection of Metro Parkway and Crystal Drive. The first crash involved an Ambitrans ambulance and a Tesla, resulting in the Tesla driver being taken to the hospital. The ambulance was carrying two medical professionals and a patient, all of whom were also transported to the hospital. A semitrailer later side-swiped an unoccupied South Trail Fire rescue vehicle at the scene, causing minor damage. Fortunately, no firefighters were injured in this incident. South Trail Fire reported a third crash involving a work van and an SUV near the intersection, with no injuries reported. While a traffic signal box was damaged and southbound Metro Parkway was temporarily closed, the road has since been reopened. Stay tuned for further updates on this developing story.
