Cleveland County deputy injured after fatal crash in Norman

NORMAN, Okla. (KFOR) — A person was killed, and a Cleveland County Sheriff's Deputy was sent to the hospital after a collision in Norman Friday night. Acting Sheriff Mike Finley told News 4 that a deputy was engaged in a physical struggle with a suspect during an attempted arrest and called for assistance. While in route to help, another Cleveland County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a collision near Cedar Lane and Classen Boulevard around 10:33 p.m. A woman involved in the collision was pronounced dead at the scene. The deputy was transported to the hospital and remains in stable condition while continuing treatment for injuries sustained in the collision. The deputy involved in the initial incident was treated for injuries and later released from the hospital. The names of the woman and deputy involved have not been released. The Norman Police Department is investigating the incident, with details to be released later, and extends its condolences to all involved in the tragedy.
