Chittenango man dead after crash in Madison County

Update 1:55 p.m. on 3-19-2025: Madison County Sheriff's office confirms that this crash was deadly. The sole occupant of the vehicle was 33-year-old Clayton Wood of Chittenango, was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigation has shown that Wood’s vehicle was travelling Eastbound on Cottons Rd. when it failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, exiting the northern shoulder of the road and striking a large tree. At this time, improper lane usage appears to be a contributing factor to the collision. Wood was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Update at 11:30 a.m. on 3-19-26: Cottons Road has been reopened. TOWN OF LINCOLN, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) -- A serious crash has closed down some roads, according to the Madison County Sheriff's Office. Drivers are being asked to avoid the area of Cottons Road between Quarry Road and Bruce Road in the Town of Lincoln. First responders are currently on the scene.
