Chief of Be'er Sheva District Court dies in motorcycle crash

District Court President Benny Sagi, 54, tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident on Sunday evening on Highway 6 in the Lachish region. Known as “the biker president,” Sagi, the youngest district court head in Israel, was highly respected in the legal community for his professionalism, productivity, and ability to mediate in criminal and civil cases. He had also been considered a potential Supreme Court candidate. The Judicial Authority expressed deep sorrow at his passing, highlighting his exceptional talents, professional achievements, and personal qualities. President Isaac Herzog and Justice Minister Yariv Levin also paid tribute to Sagi's exemplary character and contributions to the judiciary. Sagi's educational and professional journey was distinguished, culminating in his appointment as president of the Be'er Sheva District Court in April 2025.
