Chicago woman charged with DUI crash that caused severe injury to 10-year-old boy: prosecutors
A Chicago woman, Jaquelin Onofre Reyes, facing charges of four counts of aggravated DUI causing great bodily harm, was released pretrial after reportedly causing a crash that injured a 10-year-old boy and three other family members. Despite her blood-alcohol concentration being nearly three times the legal limit, the judge allowed her release with specific conditions such as no possession or consumption of alcohol or drugs, electronic alcohol monitoring, and no contact with the victims. The incident occurred when Onofre Reyes, driving a Hummer SUV, crossed lanes and crashed into an Infiniti carrying a family of four on Route 53 in Lombard. The 10-year-old boy sustained severe injuries, requiring additional surgery. Officials found open alcoholic beverages in Onofre Reyes' vehicle, with her blood-alcohol concentration at 0.238. The State's Attorney emphasized the avoidable nature of alcohol-related crashes and urged against driving under the influence, especially during the holidays. Onofre Reyes is expected back in court on Jan. 20, 2026.
