Car slams into pole, flips on its side on Milwaukee’s Upper East Side

Police arrested at least one person early Friday morning after a car slammed into a stoplight pole on Milwaukee’s Upper East Side.The crash happened around 1 a.m. near Oakland Avenue and Locust Street.WISN 12 News video shows the vehicle on its side, with the traffic light pole completely destroyed. The car came within inches of a nearby building.Police said the driver lost control while making a right turn, struck a traffic sign and rolled into a building. When 12 News arrived at the scene, a photojournalist saw officers taking at least one person into custody.Police said the driver, a 26-year-old man, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital with non-fatal injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of OWI.
